I write a blog post for Upstart each month on one selected topic from the children's activity calendars for their Ideas+Inspiration blog.
For the summer (and July specifically) I wrote was to engage in literacy in your own family and with the families and communities that are part of your classroom or library. Summer is already off to a great start and these activities can help energize and add a spark to any day, especially as we approach the dog days of summer. The activities encourage reading and book celebrating of all types and in all sorts of locations. I hope you'll try a couple out with me and see what lights the reading spark for you and your family this summer!
